After writing our hot tub gazebo guide we were asked ” What is the best wooden gazebo kit, that will make a statement in my garden and is straight forward to setup?”.
We decided to create a blog post to answer that question, as more and more of you are looking to add that extra flair to your garden. And it makes sense; wooden gazebo kits can make your garden into a friendly, warm and social place for you to spend with your family and friends.
Or even act as a mini get away from your busy home, so you can sit out in the sunshine and enjoy your favourite book.
What to Consider Before Buying a Wooden Gazebo Kit?
There are a number of things to consider before purchasing your Wooden Gazebo, we’ve provided a few examples of the variety of gazebos above. You should also be able to answer these questions with confidence before you purchase yours.
- Where will you put it in your home?
- Will you need planning permission?
- Will you require concrete foundations?
- What shape do you want? (most popular are square and octagon)
- How much money are you willing to spend on this project?
- Will you build this yourself or hire a handyman to do it?
- Do you want a permanent structure or something you can take down whenever?
- What level of maintenance are you willing to accept each year?
- Do you want any added bonus features, such as a fire pit or a BBQ?
- Do you want the roof to provide full shade or partial shade?
If you can answer those questions with confidence, you’re half way to getting your very own wooden gazebo kit. So without further a do here are the ones we recommend you look into.
This is perfect for someone who wants extra shade in their garden, without having to deal with the fuss of planning permission, consulting with their neighbours about their new investment or hiring someone to give them a hand.
The benches will sit up to 6 people and the tables are big enough to hold a full banquet.
The gazebo is made out of high quality German Witterungsbeständing oak. Which translates to weatherproof oak.
Due to these wooden gazebos being in high demand, the average wait time can be up to 5 weeks before it arrives at your home. With wait time expected to be longer around the summer months.
Weighing in at almost half a ton and being 2.2m tall : 1.75m wide : 2m long.
Requiring some assembly and some foundations (dependent on your preference).
Checo provide a very economical wooden gazebo kit, with the option to add up to 3 different coloured roof shingles (brown, red, green).
The gazebo is made out of timber from spruce trees and is shipped in 30-40 pieces of wood. There will be some assembly required to create this gazebo, however clear instructions and enough screws are provided..
The size of this gazebo is 12m x 12m on the outside and 10m x 10m on the inside. With a combined weight of over half a ton.
The gated walls offer you some creativity to unleash your artistic side; maybe add some bright coloured plants, or perhaps some fairy lights?
This is Amazons best selling and cheapest DIY wooden gazebo, and it’s pretty obvious why that is:
- It’s relatively easy to set up
- It offers shade
- It’s very affordable
- Up to 4 people could fit under your Gazebo
- It’s lighter than the other Gazebos
- It blends into most gardens so it’s easy to match
You even have the option to add your own wooden flooring; which makes this very stable and is an easier alternative than digging foundations.
We will say this though, as lovely as the breeze is, that gently makes it’s way through the woven Willow. It’s not watertight. This will leak water and it won’t offer you protection from rain.
So if you have ideas of using this all year around, it’s best that you set yourself some realistic expectations (summer/spring).
To further this, although it will survive most weather conditions; we would advise you take precautions and buy some plastic cover from B&Q or here. As with constant rain, snow and wind. Your gazebo will break down over time (3 years +). So to protect your investment in your very own gazebo. Ensure you protect it from the elements.
This is a hexagon shaped gazebo with the longest cross section being 2.3m and the shortest being 2m and giving you 2.6m in total height.
Another well put together wooden gazebo kit, by the renown Checo.
This wooden kit, offers the most protection from the elements than the other previous gazebos. Most notable is the wooden roof: the previous roofs where made from felt or woven willow and as we know wood is more watertight.
The back of the gazebo features two solid panels to be used to either protect you from wind (if you have an open garden) and can be equally used to face your neighbours and offer you privacy.
The open plan at the front allows you to lean outside and still allows some sun into your gazebo; whilst the gated sides offer you protection.
You could use this wooden gazebo for hot tubs. As the sides offer protection and privacy from nosy neighbours and the British weather. Whilst the open plan allows the water vapour to escape – meaning you wont be left with mould everywhere (unlike other gazebos).
This wooden gazebo kit is shipped in 11 panels : 2 handrails : 12 posts. Along with clear instructions on how to set it up. It should be noted that the wooden roof is included but you will have to order your own shingles (if you want them).
Also you will have to decide on what type of flooring you want, as this is also not included. We suggest wooden panels as it’s fairly simple to setup inside your gazebo. You also have the freedom to move your gazebo, should you not be satisfied where it is, giving you total control of your garden.
This Oriental style wooden gazebo, is the perfect twist for a modern British garden.
The picture doesn’t do this gazebo justice; with the bland conifer trees in the background. This gazebo is best placed amongst vibrant flowers, bursting with colours and tropical smells.
The above crosses make the perfect place to allow vines to climb. Our personal favourite is passion flowers or fire vines. The added colour of the flowers makes it a welcoming place.
Oddly enough we would suggest you allow this gazebo to weather, as it adds to it’s oriental characteristics and compliments your garden. Making it a magnificent centre piece and the envy of your friends – it’s so simple too.
The height of this gazebo reaches 2.6m and the largest cross section is 2.5m. The wood is also of a spruce/pine blend making it very heavy and strong (weighing just under half a ton).
Ok we get it this isn’t your typical wooden gazebo kit, hence why we’ve included it last. Having said that we couldn’t not show this to you. We were
really excited when we seen this gazebo and i’m sure you will be too.
It’s the same type of gazebo you’d expect to see on hot beaches. The metal frame’s are solid enough that you can attach stereos too them (should you wish).
With the curtains allowing you the ultimate control over your gazebo experience. Think about it, it get’s too windy/sunny in one direction, so you pull the cover over.
Or perhaps it starts to rain and you need the extra protection (you’re all covered).
And of course you can also go out your way and buy some luxury garden furniture to lounge around on.
Best thing about this? It takes just under an hour to set up – tops. Heck you could just set it up for the summer and take it down for the winter if you were so inclined.
And if you’re unsure whether you still want a gazebo in your garden and don’t want to part with your hard earned cash. You will not be breaking the bank with this gazebo.
