In a rare marriage of glamour and practicality, we found ourselves (mostly me) falling in love with our very own Hollywood mirror with lights.
For a start, it makes you look great – I’ve never had a bad photo in it and it makes getting ready for nights out a blast.
And then, it’s also practical for applying makeup – what’s not to love?
Here’s the thing, you can practically get one that matches any room decor. From Chic to Modern, anyway here’s our favourite Hollywood mirror with lights:
As you can see it’s an incredibly thick mirror, and it’s also weighty too, but it all adds to it’s authenticity. Typically the lights where affixed around the outside of the mirror, due to the low quality bulbs available in the 1920s.
The more lightbulbs, the better the light. The above Hollywood mirror with lights allow’s you to dim the bulbs as you please. Which is incredibly useful.
As you know, when applying makeup the better your lighting, the better your results. It allows you to nail the basics such as applying the right amount of foundation. If your lights too dim, you risk over compensating – eek like me
However what we liked, was the fact you can dim the lights and leave it on in your bedroom. It gives a great light, which is perfect for winding down of an evening – and again, more importantly it makes for the perfect selfie mirror.
The mirror itself comes with a wall bracket (but we’ve chose to leave it leaning against a wall like the above photo) and it also comes with a 10 year warranty so that pretty much sealed the deal for us.
The mirror is dressed in an authentic black faux Croc leather, making it incredibly unusual and edgy. So it’s a very bold decoration to add to any home.
It should be noted that this is the most pricey Hollywood mirror with lights available – but you pay for quality and authenticity. We’ll discuss some of the cheaper alternative below.
We had to include this white version of the 30 second makeover mirror, admittedly it does go with a lot more decor. It’s also slightly cheaper than the above mirror which i’m sure you’ll agree that a saving is always welcome.
The colour is a white satin, which is easy to match with. Although it’s not a traditional Hollywood mirror it’s still magnificent – And heavy (don’t forget that).
The mirror comes with a wall mount, dimmer switch and a 10 year warranty –how many items do you own with a warranty for that long?
We’re yet to mention this, but it’s important to remember: this is a timeless piece of furniture, having already stood the test of time for almost 100 years, how crazy is that?
This is our favourite modern Hollywood illuminated mirror, the first thing you’ll notice is there aren’t any “authentic” light bulbs. But this mirror has took a step into the future and used the power of LEDS to light up the outside of your mirror.
If you’re unaware, LEDs last a hell of a lot longer than light bulbs – so you can leave this mirror on, as often as you like (without having to worry about the bulbs dying).
Unlike the earlier mirror, this requires batteries to work (there’s no way of plugging it into your mains). Which is great, as you can just place it on your wall without having to worry about wiring – having said that batteries die and it can be quite annoying to replace all the time.
It’s also not known whether a dimmer switch comes with this mirror ( i have asked and am yet to have a response).
What’s great about this, is it looks great and is highly affordable. So if you’re looking to add that extra flair to your bedroom and up your makeup game. This is a great mirror to get started with.
We wouldn’t be doing this blog post justice, without offering some alternatives, to those who want a great mirror but aren’t strapped for cash.
This is Amazon’s best selling makeup mirrors (and it’s easy to see why.
Firstly the stem of the neck, allows you to bend it to give you the optimum angle to apply your makeup. Next, the border of the mirror is covered in 20 LED lights’ which make it easy to do your makeup in any light condition. Hint: you can long press the middle button to adjust the brightness of the lights.
And finally? Its hard to miss the massive circular magnifying mirror. This magnifies 10x, so you get to really stare at your pores (well i do anyway haha). In all seriousness, if you haven’t used a magnifying mirror before, they’re great for doing your eyebrows in.
After seeing the earlier mirrors, i’m sure you’re probably thinking (gee this thing will be a fortune) but i’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
